sitegoals’ Pixelwood Derby 2015 Raised $2500 for the Thinkery!

On May 14th, 30 competitors from the most creative businesses in Austin to competed in the 2nd annual Pixelwood Derby, sponsored by Grande Communications and Quotingly, which benefitted the Thinkery. The cars were fast and the competition was fierce but last minute entry Samba TV took 1st Place in speed. The design entries were judged by Austin restauranteur, C.K. Chin, and the founder of Juegos Rancheros, Wiley Wiggins (yes, he was in Dazed and Confused), both of whom had hard choice to make before choosing an amazing Star Wars themed car from Obzervant for this year’s 1st Place design winner.

The best part of this year’s Pixelwood Derby is that it raised $2500 for the Thinkery, which provides inquiry-based education on the fields of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). Adrienne Longenecker, Director of Development and Marketing at the Thinkery, stated the donation will help “support our mission to equip and inspire the next generation of problem solvers.” Some of the programs that will be supported include Spark Shop which explores aerodynamics, Space 8-a maker’s lab, and their Outdoor Learning Lab which opens up later this year.

sitegoals would like to thank all of our competitors and fans for making the 2015 competition the great success it was! If you missed out on it, you can check out the event at our official Pixelwood Derby site and be sure to check back for details for 2016!
